Jason Voorhees wrote:Yeah alot of understandable feelings.I'm Not a Goalie wrote:Part 6 & 3 are my personal favorites. 6 is just pure slocky fun, knows it, and doesn't give a poop. Part 3 because that's where the franchise really found it's identity. It's no accident that three characters from that movie found their way into the game. All in all, I love parts 3 through 7. 8 is kind of trash, but it's enjoyable trash I don't mind watching. Part 2 is okay, but I've always found it kind of slow, and more difficult to watch than a lot of the other movies in the franchise.
After New Line took over, that's when I started having issues with the series especially behind the scenes... Part 9 is the only film in the franchise I just don't enjoy on any level. I wont trash anyone for liking it, I have a soft spot for P5 since it was my introduction to the franchise as a wee lad and that film is also really derisive amongst the fanbase. I also like Freddy vs. Jason more than most. I did hate the introduction of the idea that Jason's suddenly afraid of water, but I enjoyed the movie otherwise. Not quite sure what the fanbase was expecting from that film. Jason X is... What it is. There's a reason there's a running joke in pop culture that shooting your characters into space symbolizes that you've officially run out of ideas.
It's weird, but I remember watching the remake in the theater and really enjoying it... Then I tried watching it again a few years later and... Realized it wasn't as good as I remembered it... I think I was just so excited to see another back to basics Friday movie where Jason wasn't in space or body swapping that it clouded my judgement and I didn't realize I'd seen this exact movie 8 times already, and they were all better. It was okay, but there was something off that's hard to put my finger on.
New Line Cinema declined with Part 9 (No offense to Adam Marcus) but I liked Part X (Jason X) it was goofy and unique but FvJ was way to motivated by money than what the Fans wanted (Aka Kane Vs Robert) and I personally like the remake it's only the 3/6 remakes of films that I enjoy watching in the Horror Community as an overall.
All these films had their great and iconic moments and then Part 8,Part 9, and FvJ just....just didn't make it for me.
Part 8 because of the numerous continuity issues.
Part 9 because if the body swapping/Voorhees Only Kills Voorhees/Necronomicon logic which further those inconsistencies.
Freddy Vs Jason just went with "Lol what's continuity!?" Like...we know after Part 9 he was literally in Hell but then FvJ had his "Corpse" on earth? Fear of water bs and then the Jason design like overall it could have been better with Kane who knew the Jason the best and also Freddy barely even got any kills which is bs in a Nightmare on ElmStreet film.
Dang it, I almost forgot about Kane not being in that movie! That was disappointing. That's been my problem with New Line all along though. I'm a documentary nerd, so naturally I've seen all the Friday Docs, and they always leave me with the impression that New Line never really cared about Jason or the franchise... Just whatever milk they could squeeze out of that cow. Even with Sean Cunningham having directed the first Movie, he had nothing to do with the other films before P9, and thus nothing to do with Jason's development as a character over the years. When the only thing he seems to care about is getting the mask off of Jason because he hates it, why we got the body swapping, there's a problem there. It does make sense that FVJ feels more like a Freddy movie, it's New Line Cinema so of course he was going to be the priority. It's a shame paramount never did anything with the license while it was under their control, just because their Ring movie bombed. Because 'The Ring' and 'Friday the 13th' are the exact same thing? Makes perfect sense.

Agreed....seeing the documentary and hearing Kane explaining about the situation with New Line Cinema about Freddy Vs Jason and as someone who has seen alot of acting and seeing those fake emotions....seeing Kane actually tear up and almost cry about that recount was legitimate he loved the series and the character and to just be outright bullshitted was hurtful for fans of him and his work.
They never tried anything really for Jason....the 2009 reboot did amazing and them canceling the 2017 film version was also some bullshit just when one little movie failed then cancel the next?....makes no sense....both Paramount and New Line Cinema were scummy for this!

Not a fan of the utility belt part on Jason but it's a solid film. Like I said the more I watch, the more I like

I personally enjoyed part 3 more than all the others because part 3 characters are the most memorable imo

I love the 3/D aspect of Part 3 and I’ve got a real soft spot for it for introducing us to Jason’s Hockey Mask!

Re: Favorite Friday the 13th Movie?
Part IV is my favorite but Jason X and Part 3 are VERY close behind. I waited so long for Jason X and had a blast watching it in the theatre with my friend Melanie. She moved out of state a few years ago but I still talk with her on Facebook and I bring up we saw the best movie ever, Jason X lol.
