Festival of the Living Dead

Festival of the Living Dead
It has been over 50 years since Night of the Living Dead’s original zombie attack and the horrific event has become the subject of morbid nostalgia. Looking for fun, Ash (Ashley Moore) and her friends attend the Festival of the Living Dead, but it is disrupted when a blast of radioactive space dust hits the festival and they must defend themselves or be devoured by the living dead.
My Rating:
6/10
It's a cool zombie flick and it's supposed to be a "spiritual" successor to George A. Romeros film but it doesn't feel like it's an actual successor to Romero's film series, the Zombies seem to be way to fast in terms of their movement speeds, the Gore was good, any Zombie films without Gore is basically useless let's be honest but seriously it's an OK film to watch, the main cast were alright actors, the minor homages were good too, wish it had more actual uage of surprising continuity example?
Let's look at the timeline...
The Night of the Living Dead (1968) is the original "incident" meaning Dawn of the Dead (1978) had also had happened to "contain" the outbreak, and it surely ignores Day of the Dead (1985) and its later sequels meaning these Zombies shouldn't be you know "super mobile" and I know some will argue "it's a different outbreak variation" but still...if you gonna try to have a continuity stay true to it, this is why The Return of the Living Dead didn't recieve so much fan praise because they nerfed down the 2-4-5 Trioxin chemical and making the Zombies less of a threat as them being nearly indestructible is what made them frightening, what made Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead threats were the mob mentality and the usage of numbers pinning down the prey into a specific area.
Again it's not like a C-Rate Horror film at all and it's definitely a B-Rate film if you into those types ofc, I rated it a 6 out of 10 for a few reasons...
Reason 1: The Gore, I love practical effects and the film did amazing in this regard which is what Horror films SHOULD be having.
Reason 2: It's not the best "spiritual successor" but it's still better than a few of the "Wanna-be's" out there who try so hard to make it "This is apart of the official continuity" nonsense
Reason 3: Tubi yeah its on a free service so why not? Didn't need to pay to watch something thats produced by a company who makes free movies and gets it back by Revenue from people going to the app.
Reason 4: If anyone didn't know the original Night of the Living Dead had hinted at a "Outspace" outbreak which in this film its about a Meteorite crash landing which restarts the outbreak this is a very lovely homage that they paid attention to.
It could have been higher but some of the action scenes were overdone and some Zombies didn't even have make-up again...it's not like a major budget for these sorta films BUT still it felt weird for such a film.
Re: Festival of the Living Dead
Yeah I watched this when I saw it was a 'homage ' to the original. I thought it was way better than the goofy Night of the Living Dead Animated with the different styles of animations. I thought it was watchable and mildly entertaining. But overall it felt like it should have been more of a homage to Return of the Living Dead I or II. Overall I give it a solid 5 for the effects and the inclusion of Catwoman from the Gotham series

Very understandable! And I didn't know they made an animated Night of the Living Dead that's interesting.

You'll find it on TUBI. I think it's called Night of the Living Dead Reanimated. Definitely different

Ah I see the pun LOL Re "animated" that's kinda clever for them.
This film is also on Tubi as well.
