I'm due to get surgery

The doctor had me get a cataract removed, and I'll get retina surgery for real on Tuesday the 17th. I'll be laying on my stomach face down for a week.

The retina surgery went well. The vision in my right eye is gradually improving. I'm in better spirits now. It's going to take a couple months to fully recover. It's a slow process with such delicate surgery.

I am on the road to recovery. My latest checkup was this past Monday. The vision in my right eye is back up to 20/80 from 20/200. The eye and retina are healing well. In the original surgery, they put silicone oil in the eye to help heal and keep the retina in place. When I go back in 6 weeks, I'll get checked again, and I'll most likely get a date to get the oil flushed out of the eye and further improve vision.

I may very well end up getting prescription glasses and special contact lenses. I don't mind corrected vision. It's better than NO vision.

I had to have corrective surgery when I was a kid because my eyes wouldn’t uncross. People always tell me to get lasik so I don’t need glasses but I tell them first that I like my glasses and second that I’m disqualified due to my earlier surgery. Like you said The Punisher, I would rather have corrected vision that none at all.

Oh, and also, my girlfriend thinks I look very handsome with my glasses so works for me!

I've been told glasses also make you look very smart.

I hate wearing glasses personally LOL this is ofc my opinion ofc.

My most recent checkup was on the 11th, last Thursday. Vision in my eye is back to 20/60. Pressure from the silicone oil is way down. My next appointment is March 4th as a pre op for removing the silicone oil. March 19th will be the procedure for removing the oil. I'll have a gas bubble put in to stabilize the eye. I'll have to lie flat on my stomach for a week or so while the bubble dissolves and natural fluids go back in the eye.

There's finally some light at the end of this very dark tunnel. I'm glad I have the great people on this forum for support. I'm a bit of an oddball in real life, and don't have many friends, but I do have plenty of acquaintances. I'm trained in science and can write pretty well, something I think most guys don't want to do. I have been confused with a biker on numerous occasions.
