why the hitchhiker?

Why did Jason feel the need to kill the hitchiker? She wasn't technically at Crystal Lake. Why did Jason kill her?

No drugs, alcohol or sex so why?

Unfortunately one of the the other Death tropes…..is being Fat, or Ugly and just plain mean will get you killed in these movies……

If I remember correctly, she was sitting somewhere close by Pamela's grave marker, so perhaps Jason resented her intrusion or maybe he just hated banana eaters

Jason logic:

If you enter Crystal Lake: you die.
If you leave Crystal Lake, but I spotted you: you die.
If you live near Crystal Lake and I'm going to Crystal Lake: you die.
If you make fun of my mom: you die.
If you sit anywhere near my mom's grave: you die.
If you die: you die.
Die.

I'm pretty sure it was sitting next to the grave marker. I'm sure other people tried to screw with it, so why would Jason not cover his bases?

If Jason hadn't seen the perpetrators commit the act with his own eyes, he wouldn't be tracking them. The only time Jason has gone out of his way to
track down a person who wronged him was Alice in Part II.

Jason contains a one-track mind. Once he hones in on a target, his vision narrows, and he won't leave an area until all of the victims have been taken care of.

To Jason, it's like dealing with cockroaches. If you don't get them all, what's the point?

I think a lot of people really are misinterpreting Jason's killing grounds.

Like Michael Myers aka The Shape, Jason does kill outside of Camp Crystal Lake, he is a serial killer for this reason.

Example from Friday the 13th Part 2 and Friday the 13th Part 2 Official Novelization itself where Jason was casually stalking Alice Hardy outside of the lake and was straight into town stalking her for about 5 years before he made his move to kill her.

So its safe to assume that Jason just wanted to kill her lol!
