what if counselors had stayed
Paul allowed the counselors to go in town for a last night of fun, though some did stay at camp and Jason got them
BUT if Paul DID NOT let anyone go into town do you think Jason still strikes? It would have likely been much harder with how many more counselors there would be

I imagine he would have made a move that night as cops would probably come looking for Officer Winslow at some point. The fact that others left was a blessing for him.

We never did hear if anyone went looking for Winslow did we? Of course, then you have a manhunt once you start offing the local law enforcement.

I don't think so, but I imagine they would start looking eventually.

Yeah they definitely would be searching for Winslow unless Jason knew how to drive and hide the car because they wouldn't just assume he left his patrol and never returned back to the department especially without the car.

Re: what if counselors had stayed
It was a back road so chances are it'd be a while before someone came across it. When I first saw Part 2, I thought Ginny would find it running from Jason, but instead she found the shack. I don't think Jason knew how to drive nor did he understand until later how to disable a car like Pamela did to Ned's truck in Part 1. But if the other counselors had stayed, unless Jason waited until 3am, he would have had difficult time building up a body count unnoticed. From the looks of it, there were at least 12 counselors that left for town, and Jason wasn't the brute he was in Part 3 and 4, so other than Ralph and Winslow, he might have gotten one or two before he was discovered.
