why do we watch horror?

What exactly is it that draws us to horror movies? Is it to get over some fear without having to use the real thing to face the fear? Do you laugh at some of the scary things that happen?

Do you watch to see the jerk get what's coming to him, knowing that doesn't always seem to happen in real life? Are there lessons to learn from horror movies?

In our everyday lives, we don't encounter scary situations all that often, but if we do encounter something threatening or dangerous, it attracts our attention…..

As a result, horror movies are a risk-free way to vicariously experience these threats and and how others react and determine our own responses to those threats as well.

Horror movies let us vicariously explore the nature of evil, both in others and in ourselves, and grapple with the darkest parts of humanity in a safe environment.

Many studies have demonstrated that those high in the trait of sensation seeking tend to enjoy horror, This indicates that people who consume horror develop the ability to cope with stressful and anxiety-provoking situations.

From my point of view Horror is the ultimate movie Genre it can encompass many other genres, Action, drama, Thriller, sci-fi all in one…..

I love the kills, blood, gore, and the overall creature designs!

Horror movies allow us to explore the darker elements of our nature and walk the line between insanity and creativity. They also allow us to root for the underdogs and social outcasts who can suddenly step up and be the hero. We all need a little jump scare from time to time. Imagination is a wonderful gift, and horror is a great way to express it

I watch it for the psychological elements.

I like to see what drives the killer.

I like the dark mysterious settings.
