pt 2 and pt 3 box office numbers
In the US pt 1 pulled in 39 million , part 2 fell down to 21 million then pt 3 went up to 36 million
Why was pt 2 so low, but pt 3 jumped up again? Was it due to the 3d aspect?

The 3D definitely had a role in it, but I believe there was a bit more too it then that. 3 was also the first film where you could say Friday the 13th really hit it's stride with Jason as it's figurehead. P2 was still a bit of an unknown at the time. Where do they take the series after Pamela was beheaded in the first, and the logic gymnastic required to reconcile why the kid that supposedly drowned in the first film was now alive and a grown-ass man. Jason wasn't quite the accepted central antagonist of the series just yet.
The fact that 3 is just an overall good film with a lot of memorable characters helps too. There's a reason three of them made it into the game.

Yes this does answer how/why Part 3 did so well, so many people find it interesting.

That 21 million that part 2 brought in is nothing to sneeze at Considering it was made on a budget of 1.25 million.

Yeah they made triple the amount they did spending on the film itself.

It always interests me to see how well the movies did. I wasn’t a big fan of Pt 2 the first time I saw it but the next time, I really enjoyed it. The first time I ever watched Pt 3 was when it aired on The New TNN. They were advertising Jason Lives for that night and I was like cool! I tuned in and was a bit disappointed it wasn’t Pt VI but I loved being able to see Part 3 for the first time. Plus, they kept the NOW PLAYING FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI JASON LIVES title thing on the bottom of the screen the whole night long so I like seeing networks mess up a little once in awhile lol.

I can bet that was an amazing moment for any Friday the 13th fan! I am for right now on the forum if I remember correctly the youngest member, so I didn't get those amazing moments of seeing them the way other fans have!

I know what you mean. I didn’t get to see the movies when they’d air on USA Network because I was either too young or else other people in the house wanted to watch other stuff. Im glad I did get to see them when they went to The New TNN/Spike TV, but I wouldn’t have minded being able to watch them when USA would go full tilt and do complete marathons. I get to see the ads and promos for them which are cool to look up and see.

Being a kid now vs a kid then is massively different, My mom let me watch any and all horror movies I wanted, I stayed up all night watching Sci-Fi (Syfy),Hallmark, AMC, and other such channels, the blood/gore wasn't the problem lol it was seeing nudity.

Yeah it feels like that’s the same problem nowadays where violence in movies is ok, but nudity is where networks draw the line. I find it funny AMC Network will show stuff like The Walking Dead where we have tons of gore, but they edit out the beheading at the end of the original Friday The 13th. I think it’s just an old copy and they haven’t had a chance to update to the more recent version. Cable tv gets away with a lot and someone asked TV Guide to see why shows like Yellowstone get away with language and violence and the response is that networks like Paramount Network have their own censors nowadays. So I could see AMC Network updating their version next time it airs, maybe for FearFest this yr.
